Default Richard Thompson Anyone?

Have been searching for accurate tabs for Richard Thompson songs but pretty much drawn a blank - there is a "Guitar of Richard Thompson" site but the tabs are not very good. Anyone know of a good source?

Lots of words and chords can be found here:

http://people.netcom.co.uk/r.kendric...ar/default.htm

probably not much tab available.

Richard is one of the greatest guitarists and songwriters around. A real unsung hero.

I will never pass on a chance to see him again.

Default Beeswing?

He's the one who does 'Beeswing' right? Man, I'd sure like that tab. Great tune ... storyline, voice and music is all very nice. If anyone runs upon that one in tab, I'd like to see it.

edited...

Update ... just found it ... in TAB ... at that site. Very cool ... sure hope it's right but looks good already. Thanks!

Default Beeswing tab

The tab for "Beeswing" at http://people.netcom.co.uk/r.kendric...ar/default.htm doesn't look very good at first sight, but there are actually three tabs in it. This is what I make of the intro and start of the verse:

E||--0--------0--------|--------------------|--------------------|
B||--------------3--0--|--0-----------------|--0--------0--2--3--|
G||--2-----0--2--------|--------0--------0--|--------0-----------|
D||-----2-----------0--|-----0--------0-----|-----2--------------|
A||--0--------0--------|--------------------|--------------------|
D||--------------------|--5--------4--------|--2--------2--------|

--0-----0-----------|--0-----2h0-0--------|--------------------|
-----------0--------|---------------3--0--|--0-----------------|
--2-----0--------0--|--2---------2--------|--------0--------0--|
-----2--------4-----|-----2------------0--|-----0--------0-----|
--0--------2--------|--0---------0--------|--------------------|
--------------------|---------------------|--5--------4--------|

--------------------|--0-----------------|--------------------|
--0--------0--2--3--|-----------0--------|--0--------0--------|
--------0-----------|--2-----0--------0--|--------0--------0--|
-----2--------------|-----2--------4-----|-----0--------0-----|
--------------------|--0--------2--------|--------------------|
--2--------2--------|--------------------|--5-----------------|

--------------------|--------------------|--------------------|
-----------0--------|-----------0--------|--3-----3--------3--|
-----0-----------0--|--2-----2--------0--|-----2--------2-----|
--------0-----0-----|-----0--------0-----|--------------------|
--------------------|-----------2--------|--------------------|
--5-----------------|--0-----------------|--0--------0--------|

So for what it's worth, I'd say PART THREE is the one to go for.

A couple of biographical notes: "Beeswing" was written for/about the incomparable Nottinghamshire folk singer Anne Briggs, long since retired. And the "steamie" mentioned in the song is probably in Aberdeen, since that's the only Caldrum Street in Scotland (although it's spelt Cauldrum on the RT website).

IMHO the British folk scene has produced some of the finest guitarists in the world: Richard Thompson, John Martyn, Bert Jansch, Davey Graham, Nick Drake and Ralph McTell. Usually, like prophets, without honour except in their own country (and for some of them, not much even there). Not to mention singers like Sandy Denny...

Completely agree with you - these guys have produced a stunningly original and rich body of work over the years -
RT, JM and ND are particular favourites. Some sites worth checking out if you dont already know them:

www.nickdrake.com

www.hillarby.freeserve.co.uk

Thanks for posting the Beeswing tab - I'll have a shot at it tonight
