Default Rebecca Urlacher 00-ish Myrtle/Englemann

My friend Rebecca Urlacher is visiting Eugene (they live in Bend now), and she brought with a delightful little 00-ish guitar that she built "on spec"...it's more of an OM shape, but smaller (14-1/4"+ lower bout), 24" scale (yay!)...14 frets to the body, beautiful Myrtlewood & Englemann combo.

It's really fun to play, and while Rebecca & Co. were out visiting and running errands, I did a couple/three down-and-dirty videos...straight to my Zoom Q4HD (using built in mics), no audio processing whatsoever. Rebecca did not ask me to do this, and I, in fact, am doing it as a surprise for *her*...it's always easier to ask-forgiveness rather than to ask-for-permission...!!!

Do NOT be afraid to turn the volume up a bit.

Thank you for playing Larry. You sound wonderful as does the guitar. Awesome sound.

Would you be kind enough to let me know what tuning you play the first song with.

Thank you very much.

Tom

Fabulous, Larry! Lovely playing as always and love the tone of the guitar. Englemann is a great tone wood in my experience and it sounds great paired with the myrtle. Very cool!

Best,
Jayne

Great sounding guitar and playing, Larry! Is it strung up with lights?

Yes, lights except for the high-e, which is a .013. The guitar can handle straight mediums, according to the builder...who is sitting next to me on the couch as we watch some sports on TV!

It's a fun guitar, for sure.

Hi, Larry!
Applause to you and Rebecca both! That is a sweet guitar, and in your hands, it has the quality of legend. Thanks for posting these great clips.
Is Rebecca a member of this Forum? I'd like to find out more about her and the guitars she makes. She clearly has abundant talent and ability.
Also, I have to say, I really like seeing that expression of- what is it? Bliss?- on your face as you play. Great to see you at the top of your game and enjoying life!
Thanks for the music, my friend!
-Steve

Steve...Rebecca is not really the forum-type...and I mean that in a good way, for her!

She is easily reachable/accessible via email and phone, of course...she's a talented & dedicated artist, for sure...like many here, yourself included.

Hope that this finds you well...I'm hanging in...

I saw and played that guitar at the recent Northwest Handmade Instrument Exhibit. It was comfortable to play with a pleasant clear tone and surprising volume. It is one of those guitars you do not forget once played.

Larry your post brought back memories. It was in 2009 while searching for a parlor guitar that I stumbled across Rebecca's work. Since I could not afford one of her parlor guitars I asked which parlor she would recommend other than hers. She suggested a Larrivee parlor which lead me to a Larrivee P-09 and of course your wonderful playing

Thanks for this, S4H...

Rebecca is still rather underpriced based on all the qualities of her work, and while the $4K range is quite a bit more than most production-line guitars, well, she's worth every cent and more.
