Default Kostal Memphis Madness!

So guys and gals, what about this:

Or this:

It seems that Jason has been working hard for the Memphis show. He doesn't often get the chance to build stuff "for himself" since all of his work is for clients and he has a crazy long waiting list because his guitars are in such high demand. However, for Memphis he decided that he'd build some spec guitars, one of each type, so that he could work on issues around progressing his instruments sonically (even further!) without "experimenting" on a customer's instrument.

He's built one of each type as follows:

OO: German/ Madagascar Rosewood
OMC: German/ Celebes Ebony
MDC: German/ Old Growth BRW with Manzer Wedge
JC: German/ Cocobolo with Manzer wedge

At times like this I really wish I could be over the pond: I'd love to be able to play these. Those who will be at the show, PLEASE let us know what you think.

Cheers,
Steve

It would be really cool to be able to sit down with each of these instruments, when they are finished, and put them through their paces. I can't think of anything that would be more enjoyable.

I wonder how well one can evaluate things like responsiveness, resonance, depth of sound, balance, etc. (all the subtleties that go into the decision making process) at a show like Memphis. Do they have any quiet areas where one can audition?

What a shame...!

Hey, wait, that guitar on the left seems to be missing something. Well, perhaps it's the other guitars that are missing something...but the one on the left is definitely missing something that the other guitars are clearly missing.

Oh, right...not everyone needs a cutaway.

Excellent work from Mr. Kostal, as per usual...

I love the backstrip/inlay on that OMC. That's very cool. I bet it's pictures like these that make that clock sound like "tick.... .... ....tock". Right Neelix?

As far as I know, yes, all of these are for sale. They are spec and not built with a specific customer in mind ( beyond one who wants a really good guitar!).

As ever, best to contact Jason to get the lowdown from the horses mouth.

Cheers,
Steve
