I will use a metronome for sure when I start the strumming back. For now, I am going to focus on my chord formations.

We have a Yamaha Digital piano that my wife and daughter uses. I have no idea how to use it, but I know it has drum beats, metronomes and such. I know they are always recording tracks and stuff with it, so I will get them to show me the basics.

Keep in mind that even a tempo of one beat every two seconds (30 bpm) is still playing in time. That should give you plenty of time for the change Then move up to one beat every second (60 bpm). One beat a second is very slow but it still worth it to practice your changes.
