Over the years he forbid his loving wife from entering the basement. Then progressed in tunneling down and out from the house to provide practice space and storage for his collection.

This all started when he built the initial tunnel to the side of the hill where he had constructed a hidden doorway into his grotto. From that passage 11 separate chambers were established.

This was a remarkable undertaking and took years to accomplish. It wasn't till his passing that his family members ventured into the basement to discover the passage and the additional rooms.

A big part of my guitar enjoyment is sharing things with my wife. She doesn't play, but she loves music and the sound of guitars. Besides, she's my best friend too and hiding stuff wouldn't be right.

My wife is pretty cool about my guitar trading. She never asked about the monetary part of my 'trades' and knows that I'm not going to do anything way out of line.

But due to lack space in our house, I've got a 'buy one/sell one', or more realistically, 'buy one/get one out of the house rule'.

Which has led to a few extra guitars (that have yet to sell) in my office that I will need to figure what to do with when I retire in a couple of years.

This is all very "Silence of the Lambs" with the whole secret underground lair where you can keep loud slaves/victims/guitars and no one will hear a thing.

I'm counting down in my head until the mods will shut this thread down.

I probably have 72 instruments. My wife knows I have "a lot" because they have pretty much taken over the house. She's given up keeping track.

New guitars are referred to as "what? That ole thing".

Well, I suppose there are far worse scenarios than 72 guitars when you consider folks that dig hidden tunnels under their estates.
