Default Looking at picking up a Gibson CJ-165...

The Sitka/Maple version. Sunburst. No Cutaway.

It's in good condition - a few pick swirls, a small ding, small fret indents. Nothing major, well humidified, good neck relief and plenty of saddle, good action. These are pretty stellar sounding guitars.

With that being said I'm trying to get a good gauge on it's used value if I decide to pick it up. Is it List - 60% / MAP - 40%?

Just curious if anyone could help out with it. Thanks!

I don't know the current market value, but just sent an email to a friend who probably does,

I've liked all the non-cutaway CJ-165's I've played, and was sorry to see it get dropped from Gibson's product lineup.

Well I picked it up anyway! 1.1K sounds like a little steal for this guitar.

Quite articulate, very resonate, bright beautiful Gibson sound! The burst is also amazing on a nice tight spruce top!

Anyway these seem to be fairly rare since they have become discontinued.

At that price, that IS a steal!

I would have guessed that prices around the 1.5K mark would have represented a good deal.

Congrats!

Actually, Gibson acoustic guitars are quite a bit better than they used to be.

I understand the emotional appeal of the sort of "doomed romanticism" you're promoting in your post there, but it's rather severely out of date. You should bestir yourself and go play some recent Gibson guitars.

Thanks Fred! I was thinking 1300-1400 would the bottom of the barrel for this model so how could I not pull the trigger?

Don't tell Gibson's marketing folks.
