I'm glad it all went well.
Congrats on what sounds like a successful audition.

Hey great Sombras, hopefully it will be a good fit .
One question, how do you like the Mesa 35 sound wise . I recently got a Lonestar Special Combo, love the sound, but I am not sure I want to deal with a 60 lb. amp, and am toying with the idea of selling it, and going to the Mesa V:25 head and a mini recto 1X12 cab. for max portability and sound. I was thinking the 35 head but not sure if I really need the solo option (the basic difference to the 25 besides the the extra 10 watts and 3rd power option) as I don't really use the solo option on my LSS. I am primarily interested in clean and only slightly driven tones (not into heavy distortion)

Hmmm, not sure the V:35 or V:25 would be for you, then. The hands-down two best tones on the amp–FAT (which is a very-middy clean) and CRUNCH (ranging from SRV to ZZ Top or AC/DC) are both on Channel 1. Channel 2 could be toned down, but that channel is really for more aggressive overdriven tones, all amazing. Would be a shame to buy a great amp only for channel 1.

Maybe a Peavey 6505???

Interesting perhaps I should clarify, I do like some overdrive as well as clean I just don't get into heavy distorted metal type sound. But if the 2 nd channel is all pretty heavy distortion modes than you might be right.
Perhaps the Express 5:25 plus would be a better fit .
Would you happen to have heard the tones from an Express 5:25 in person ?

You CAN tone down the heavymetallapocalypse of CH 2 and it sounds very good, but I have a philosophical problem with that simply because the heavy tones on CH2 are so amazing. Yes, the V:35 will do what you want when it comes down to it. Switching between clean or FAT on CH1 and a de-fanged anything on CH2 would work.

I have not heard the Express, but all signs point to yes on that amp.

Thanks, The clean on the Express is said to be the same as on the Lonestar which I really like on mine and If it were not for weight and my bad back, I would keep no question. So I am now in the process of deciding whether to practical and sell the Lonestar and get The Express head and cab or, to just go for the GAS keep the LSS for home and recording and get probably the Mark V:35 or 25 head and cab for any traveling/gigging
