Taylor makes one for $10 that you can find on many websites.

Jack, so long as the finish on your guitar is not chemically reactive, a static cling clear vinyl pickguard should work fine. The danger arises when you put vinyl on nitrocellulose lacquer finishes, because there's a bad chemical reaction that can occur and permanently disfigure the guitar's finish.
Some players do use easily removed clear vinyl pickguards on nitrocellulose finishes, but it's imperative that they be removed immediately once you're done playing. If that gets forgotten and the pickguard stays on the guitar for a few days, there can be damage. But the chances are that your Alvarez has some sort of polyester or polyurethane finish on it, because for the most part only a few high end guitar manufacturers are still using nitrocellulose lacquer. It's not usually found on Asian-made guitars these days. That said, it's worth your while to check with the manufacturer to find out what finish they're using on Alvarez guitars. Better safe than sorry. Hope this helps. Wade Hampton Miller |
