Default Emerald Synergy sighting!

I was in the park listening to performances during the fiddle festival in Weiser, ID yesterday afternoon. To my great surprise, a fellow went to the sound guy carrying an Emerald harp guitar in black CF. As I was carrying my Lucky 13 with me, I approached and struck up a conversation after his set.

That Synergy has 20 strings - a regular six string neck plus seven treble strings below and seven bass strings above on the "horn". That's right - twenty strings in all. I believe it is this one:

...or perhaps one just like it (how many can there be?)

It was a fascinating thing to watch how the bass strings acted like his bass player, tuned to the roots of the chords he was playing, and the high harp strings were almost seamlessly incorporated into the tones from the regular six-string neck.

Holy moly! I have enough trouble with 6 strings let-alone the 12 I try and get a decent sound out of. I can't imaging playing a regular Synergy or a beast like this. Neat looking, for sure.

This guy makes it look easy and sound beautiful. I think I'd need a few years of practice!
