Default Whilst we're being shallow...

...if you had to choose your last meal before you were despatched from this world via the electric chair (or whatever), what would you order?

To be predictable and boring I think it would have to be a full roast beef dinner with all the trimmings and a nice big helping of Yorkshire pudding...
And for pud I think syrup sponge with custard...

...murdering someone seems quite appealing right now.

A flute of prosecco or brut champagne and perfectly crisp deep-fried oysters, followed by
A thimbleful of Sauternes and seared foie gras, then
A blood orange sorbet intermezzo,, then
Grilled sea bass and Viognier or grilled Copper River salmon and a Volnay or Oregon Pinot Noir
Semifreddo (preferably torrone--almond/vanilla/honey--flavored)--or Stilton, walnuts and a vintage Port--and finally a perfect double espresso with a square of Valhrona 72% dark chocolate on the side.

Something tells me the last meal they are talking about in prison is like a cafeteria style cheesegurger or theose cafeteria tacos?

But for the sake of imagining,

either sushi from Japengo's in La jolla, Ca. or
an appetizer like fried green tomato's with cheese, or stuffed crab cakes.
Freshly made sourdough bread with a nice Cab, or merlot. A fresh salad with locally grown greens a creamy vinegrete with crumbled blue cheese. Follow that with A filet mignon/bernaise sauce and a 1 pound maine Lobster tail with freshly drawn butter and lemon. a little esparagus and spinach w/butter should top that off nicely. Then, follow that up with the classic desert sampler of New York style cheesecake w/pureed strawberries, the classic chef style chocolate cake with a small bananas foster and ice cream sampler. Then a nice coffee and pure rock sugar crystals and cream. Then the lounge to die from fullness!

Mmmm, me too, Linda, except my dessert would be chocolate fudge cake with fresh whipped cream

Chicken Fried Steak, Mashed Potatoes, both covered with cream gravy, and a large tossed salad.

Blue Bell Ice cream over apple pie for dessert.

To further this concept, I offer to you any item from the Waffle House menu and a slab of their pecan pie grilled with butter. A cup of black coffee and then...........a Long island ice tea! Bon Appétit & Bon voyage!

I'd probably double the sushi post.

If not that, then likely a fat juicy steak with onion strings/blue cheese crumbles, next to realllllllly buttery and creamy mashed potatoes. with...Dr. Pepper, of course.

My meal would be rather prosaic. Roast Turkey with stuffing (must have celery, chopped pecans and a a generous amount of sage), cranberry sauce but not the kind that looks like Jello), long grain rice, string beans, out-of-the-oven-fresh rolls or biscuits and pumpkin pie with whipped cream (I would prefer the pie an hour or two later). To drink, I'd like 8 ounces of chilled Coca Cola with crushed ice and a bottle of soda water. Only that and nothing more.

Um...

Well it would have to be the Chilli I have on a regular basis in a fave restaurant with my father when he comes to visit- hot bean chilli with a little bit of yogurt on top, fluffy rice, tortilla chips and a big salad...

I'd probably skip the meal and just get blind drunk- I haven't been able to drink alcohol since I had the kids, and don't have to suffer any hangovers afterwards....

I'm from SoCal and I didn't get it either.

I'll triple the vote for a sushi feast at my favorite sushi bar here in Simi Valley. That's about it. All the sushi I can eat along with a fine chardonnay, without having to watch the portions!

I don't mind eating at "top-shelf" restaurants and I sure know how to enjoy the food, but my final meal would be very simple. We have a place about one hour north-east of Charlotte, called Lexington Barbecue.

I would have a large helping of "course chopped" smoked pork shoulder, an order of hush-puppies, a bowl of barbecue beans, a bowl of peach cobbler, and ice tea. What a way to leave this world!

Me too! 11 minutes and I can go home for dinner!

And -- I wish I were having lobster and key lime pie.
