BTW, Ted, thank you for your great 15 Series customs! Would love to see a Custom D-15M, 14-fret, binding and gloss.

I am surprised they didn't scallop the braces on the new D-28. I would love to know how people think it will sound compared to the redesigned D-18?

The D-18 Jason Isbell looks like it might be pretty nice, but the price is kind of a killer. A good alternative would be the D-18 GE, which is discontinued. Alternatively, Eastman puts out a pretty decent adi top / hog dread, as well as Collings, and either of those seem to be more affordable than the Isbell D-18. The new D-28 is morphing toward what I have in my D-28 Marquis, less the adi top. I wonder if their new D-28 is like messing with the original Coke formula.

(folks don't buy the HD-28 for the herringbone, they buy it for the scalloped braces)

They almost had me with that D-28 until I heard 1-3/4" neck - dealbreaker...
Guess I'll wait for Winter NAMM...

The dominance of the 'high performance taper' across the Martin ranges makes me sad - there's several guitars now that, if they didn't have that right hand cramp inducing string spacing at the bridge, and that skinny 'Taylor' neck, that I would be all over - 00-28, 0-18, OM-18e (a guitar I've been waiting for for ages!).
Am I the only one who finds this rush to (in my mind) copy Taylor necks a put off? If you want something other than the 'high performance taper' you're stuck with going to the authentics now the marquis/vintage range is all but dead... |

BTW, sales of the OM-28 went through the roof after they changed the neck, and the same thing will happen if they finally listen to me and make the same changes to the 00-28VS, and 0-28VS models. |

I'll make a point to try to play one of them if I get to the factory tour this summer. I'm not crazy about the look, but I'm curious to see what they sound like.

Really like this as well. I do wish it was in a smaller size, I'm full up on dreadnoughts. Not to thread-jack, but anyone know of other guitars with US-sourced woods? |

The all new D-28... ...has combined vintage appointments, including open gear tuners, an aged toner top, antique white accents, and a faux tortoise pickguard with a new neck profile to give D-28 enthusiasts a modern feel and comfortable playing experience. Martin has also added forward-shifted bracing to allow greater vibration of the top. The legend just got better! (MSRP: $3,299)
Gee whiz, other than a scalloped bracing difference that sounds like my HD-28V.
