Stacked heel and odd headstock "volute" are common features of low quality Asian imports.
As Dave said, "VERY bad fake!!" Last edited by Guest 1928; 10-28-2014 at 07:28 AM. |

THIS. The fret markers are not even in the correct location for a Martin.

Even missing the back center reinforcement strip. Look for split back on this one soon.

OMG that's faker than Pizza Hut cheese! It looks like a cheap $300 guitar out of Mexico or China. The headstock shape, fake volute isn't even a Martin design, "gloss" on the sticker (why would a Martin sticker point out ANY features on the sticker?!), cheap looking top & wrong color, the fretboard looks like something ultra cheap, the dot markers are all wrong, no interior back strip bracing, and worst of all: I have never seen a bridge/neck pulled that much on any guitar except an old Harmony that had been completely neglected.
DO. NOT. BUY! |

Martin D18 w/label in the sound hole?
I messaged the seller. He now claims it's a Shenandoah model. What say ye?

I politely told him he had been misinformed, that I was sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings but his guitar was not a real Martin, Shenadoah or Sigma & pointed out a few telltale features. If he responds again, the gloves come off. I've been nice, but this "I am minimizing my Martin collection. this is a great price with the case" in the ad makes my BS meter peg. What kind of guy with a "Martin collection" has a POS like the guitar he's selling and doesn't have a clue what it is? |

Wow...even the shape of the pickguard is a little hinky.

Obviously the items already noted would distinguish the guitar from a genuine Martin, including a Shenandoah, but wouldn't a Shenandoah be a D1832, not a D18 gloss top?

I don't really know anything about Shenandoah guitars, but I doubt even they'd have a label in them saying "Martin," or that the guitar was made in the US. Seems pretty clearly a fake, IMO.
