Default the best Taylor?

I am only three weeks into being a Taylor owner and I am just hooked! It is the only guitar I play. Now I know it's "only" a 110 but I love it.

Now I know I will be getting another one sometime down the road and I thought I would ask all of you knowledgable Taylor owners which model (year, wood etc) is your personal favorite and why.

Knowledge is key and who has more knowledge than they people that play the instrument. I know it comes down to personal preference in the end but your input will not hurt me one bit. I believe in education.

Thanks in advance for your answers!

Default 814ce

I have owned 6 Taylor guitars and 4 of them still remain with me. I have tested a lot of taylor guitars at many music stores as well. I believe that the best all-around Taylor is 814ce. It can handle everything at home and on stage. It sounds great with or without an amplifier. It is very good looking too.

If you had to have only one guitar and that guitar was a Taylor, I'd say go for the 814ce.

If you can have a collection of multiple 'specialized' instruments, then it's a different story. The quintessential Taylor tone to me is my 614ce, which I then contrast with my Martin HD-28V for a nice mix of tones in two guitars.

IMHO, YMMV, tone is in the hands, etc....

I'd go for one of the GS models, and not just because I own one. As a whole they all seem to have good volume, a pretty decent bass response, nice action, and in the world of Taylor they are reasonably priced from one of the discounting dealers. Good all-around guitars.

I have one 110, ... then upgrade to one 310... you can do the same and do that for the rest of your life.
You'll get there!... But, Taylor are the best, I'm sure!

The best Taylor is a Goodall.

All Taylors would probably be considered "the best" by those of us that own them. I have had seven different Taylor guitars over the past 25 years and all of them were great in their own way.

From the Dan Crary Signature Model to the 914ce, my personal preference is for the 800 series instruments. They give you great quality and sound for the price. That is why my only guitar right now is a 812ce with redwood top.
