I can still understand the hesitancy when someone has ZERO posts. None?

Many scams on eBay are from sellers with ZERO feedback.

That said, this isn't eBay and I think it's great advice to get a conversation going that expresses your concerns. Get lots of photos and pay through PayPal with a credit card as told.

Good luck!

I don't know how weird it is... I mean, you DID put a WTB out there... and guests can go on our site... if the guest had a friend who is a member , that member could get your email if it's listed on your player profile... not all that tough to figure.

ZERO posts? Did the guy just join the Forum? Still not an absolute deal breaker for me... there are quite a few people here who have been members for over a decade and their post count is very low...

Doesn't necessarily mean it's some crazy person!

I actually assisted a friend of mine in buying an AER Domino 3 from our Classifieds; he's a lifelong friend and a great songwriter/guitarist, and I happened to know that he was wanting one. I saw it here and sent the owner a PM with my buddy's name and phone number (per my friend), along with my name and number, if he had any questions... took a few days, but the transaction went smoothly after the initial contact, and now my friend is very pleased to own that Domino 3!

When I did this, I didn't even know if it was "against the rules" or anything, but I didn't think so.

Talk to the guy on the phone and see what you think, unless you don't really want a sunburst OM-28V...

I think post count is just one other factor you can take into account. If they have a higher post count you can get a little feeling of the person's character by looking at his/her posts.

Lots of people lurk. I just bought a pedal from a guy on another forum that's been there for years with zero posts.

I have sold guitars on this forum and the Larrivee forum to people with 0 post counts. They registered only to buy my guitars. They all turned out fine. I asked for postal money orders and did not ship until they were cashed. I also exchanged emails/phone calls and offered and sent any pictures they wanted. I described every miniscule flaw I could find. I offered a return policy only for a misrepresentation of the guitar. All transactions went very smooth.

Cool AGF Classifieds

If the guy has the guitar you're looking for, I would respond and ask a lot of questions about the condition of the guitar, ask them to send you photos. Ask if they are willing to accept payment through PayPal. If they are legit, and have a PayPal account, they can send you an invoice that you can pay if the guitar meets your expectations for price and condition. Get everything in writing, not just on the telephone.
