Hi Mike,

Thanks for checking in, as long as you're playing a guitar it is all good. There will be no bevels on this one, really trying to stick to a budget and avoid temptations for all the goodies. I am doing a sound port and a fretboard inlay which we really have not talked too much about costs yet...I think once they design the final look, they will give me a quote. The standard depth is 4 1/8", the deep body adds 1/2 inch to that to 4 5/8". It should be done around March.

Tom, I understand about budgets! I'm sure the smaller body will be very comfortable without bevels, but expect the slightly increased depth to get you some full, rich bass. Should be really nice to watch come together.

Some work from today....

The tower and power of the brick used to glue in the rosette:

If you look in the background you can see the remnants of the burl it was harvested from...

Rosette glued in with the black white black lines with teflon spacers. The radial Southeast Asian purfling will live there eventually.

And the heel block being glued up:

Braces on deck for tomorrow.

Back from a Tryptophan overdose, the boys were back at it today:

Here is a pic of the rosette with the Teflon spacers in place still, but with a little finish rubbed on to show the colors that will emerge in that redwood burl:

Here are the radial southeast asian rosewood purfling strips cut out and waiting to be installed in place of the Teflon:

Here is the rosette and purfling completed and sanded down, what a difference in the rosette itself without the finish on it! The back is showing through the soundhole:

Sometimes the bracing can be so elegant that it's a shame to cover it up. I love the wood choices in this one but, then again, I don't recall Steve and Ryan building anything that I didn't love!

Gluing in the top linings from last Friday....

We have decided to change up the rosette a little. In this pic you can see the spruce that was left on the inside of the rosette has been removed, an additional purfling line has been glued in and this will be followed by a Celebes Ebony inner lining to bind the sound hole...This will be done next...

Once the sound hole is bound I will chose between these two bridge options, I just wanted to wait until the hole is bound before deciding, one is ebony and one is Amazon rosewood...The obvious choice to me is the Amazon, but I want to see what the sound hole looks like with the ebony ring in it first:
