Default Fender Tele China Help

Hey ladies and gents. I know I've been posting a lot of questions lately and I really appreciate all ofyour input. It really helps me! I have another question. So I just bought a fender telecaster and it is made in China - I paid 500...I don't know too much about guitars quite yet but do y'all have any experience with these??!! Are they worth it - I see for 100 more, I can get a Made in Mexico Fender Tele - are those better -- I am taking it to my guitar guru on Tuesday to have him look over it and I took it to another guitar shop and he said it was one of the higher quality ones(if there is such a thing) but wanted to get y'all's opinion as well..thanks so much

For that money you can easily find a used US made Tele if you look around. Purchasing that guitar only helps these companies steal profits to support an American company, they are straight forgerys. I've handled one before and I agree, it seemed well made but still ..........

I also haven't seen a USA Tele for $500...I missed a Highway 1 for $450 once but that's as close as I have gotten.

I like the nashville style pick up arrangement on it. I don't see anything wrong with it...I think it's the market, not a steal.

I don't find that one can "easily" find a US Tele for that amount either, but I think the real point is that you bought a counterfeit. Maybe in the future you should ask these questions before buying.

Maybe I am misreading what you wrote, but these are legit Fenders that have "made in china" on the headstock. They aren't forgeries... or am I completely wrong? Guitar Center may not realize they are buying forgeries in that case either...

just my opinion, pass on the chinese and at least buy a fender mim or mia. i think you'll be much better served and perhaps won't be supporting forgery.

It's not a counterfeit guys.
It's the Fender 'Modern Player' tele that has been offered for a couple of years. Yes, it's made in China. Here's the Fender page on it - you can even zoom in on the back of the headstock picture to see the 'made in China'.

For $500 its not a bad guitar (you can actually get them for about $400 new).

Thanks for setting us straight (me included)! I guess the proliferation of Chinese forgeries made it easy to categorize this as one.

The price you paid is what MusiciansFriend sells them for. I like that pickup arrangement, with a coil tap for the humbucker.
No reason that guitar can't serve you well until you find something else down the road...

+1 ... Legit Fender Modern Player. I've seen them many times in stores around Montreal.
