I've liked that one since they came out! Too many epiphone models to choose from!

Brings up the issue of Dog Ear vs more "solid mount". I definitely prefer the dog ear.

However, if one can swing $600 to $800, one can find (with some patience) an early 90's Hamer special. Do it if you can.

Not looking to spend tons as I don't play a lot of electric. This would be for recording use only.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

I love the squire with Filter-tron-alikes! I'd have to get that before a P-90 squire!

Haven't played mine in a while, since I got my Casino

How did you gloss it up?

Not sure what "cheap" is, but here's a nice, used PRS SE. No affiliation, just pulled up a search and found it.

Have you looked at Gibson Melody Makers? 2003-2006 had a single, bridge P90 and a TOM Bridge. They are lighter than a Les Paul, I think about 1 3/4 inches thick and have pretty good pickup and electronics. Very playable and clean up nicely. Check Reverb, can generally be had for $300 to $600. I had one for $325 and traded it away, then missed it. Got another for $250, TV yellow with some metal band autographs on it, to be painted this summer. 2014 had a 2 P90 pickup version with a wrap around bridge. Good luck with your search.

If you don't want to spend much ... and also at Rondo ... check out some of the Liquid offset models. I got one on sale for $109. They also have or had some neat 3-pickup models for $139 and $149. Very distinctive with those trio of P90s. Plus the Liquid body shape is also an eye-turner.

I pulled out mine today and had a great time. The cleans sound is very sweet, crank the amp and well, very nice. Oh, and no hum.
I used to own a Godin LG with Seymour Duncan P90s that put out a fantastic sound, but the hum was something that I never got used to.

I buffed it with Meguiars Scratch-X 2.0. It just brightened things up a tad.

Thanks for the tip - might try it on my goldie to give it more of an under-the-bed '56 vibe...
