Default AGF Showcase of Talent for May: Need ideas...

Here are some ideas I have been toying with...

1) Something related to Armed Forces Day/Memorial Day (this is an American thing, but it could be used to record songs about patriotism or nationalism in some way).

2) Rock and Roll songs converted to acoustic (We can include metal and punk too).

3) Songs for mom (for Mothers Day)

4) Bluegrass songs converted to whatever arrangement you like

I think my vote would be #3 but all of them seem interesting to me.

Todd

I suspect a Military or Patriotism related theme runs the risk of things getting political. Would it be manageable?

Still holding out for gospel music, but if people are going to be offended by patriotic songs, I reckon their heads would explode over gospel music.

Skins are much too thin these days.

Hunh?

I haven't seen any body speak out against either one?

Actually, yes there have been. There was a recent thread asking for atheist songs IIRC.

Which ever category gets chosen I have the absolute perfect song: "Mama, I'm Coming Home" by Ozzy Osbourne.

You could broaden the scope to be songs with a family tie (mothers day and May's zodiac is Gemini so twins or siblings).

Metaphysical stuff is a very sensitive area that belongs anywhere but in public domain places such as this. It's a private matter who believes what and I for one would not impose my privates upon anyone. Returning the favor would be the courteous thing to do.

I like the idea of choice #2, which can be done well by many of the people I've heard here.

Okay, so for now, the rock idea is leading. Any other recommendations?

Well, let's see... "April showers bring May flowers...", right? There's Cinco De Mayo, which is becoming quite a festive day on the West Coast and the Southwest, especially... there's Mother's Day... and Memorial Day, as well...

Flowers, festivities, Mothers and Armed Forces related... sounds like a May Showcase to me!

I haven't been putting anything up for a few months, but certainly intend to do so... so I'll 'get in line" with whatever category is chosen...
