James Taylor to use Fishman Aura on next tour.
I noticed that Fishman had added a couple of sound images for Olson SJ's and that they also had done some images for the violin player for James Taylor as well. A search on Google for "James Taylor Aura" produce this.
http://www.fishman.com/artists/backstage.asp Scroll about halfway down... As the biggest James Taylor fan currently living on this earth I thought it was pretty cool. Now, to complete my gear...I only need to buy a couple of $10,000 Olson's

Now, if the Aura can make a guitar feel like an Olson, that would be a trick!

scurrence,
Thanks for the link! Some very interesting stuff there - I obviously need to pay more attention to the Aura website. Who would of thought that Jerry Douglas would be using an Aura. The bluegrass purists must be going nuts about that. Gary |

Fishman Aura Spectrum
No I don’t have an Olson like James but I do have a cedar top GA Lag & a GA spruce top Taylor. They both have some twang or mellow chime similar to James’s Sound. The greatest enhance for amplification of my acoustics is My Fishman Aura Spectrum. You can blend partially or fully with or instead of your undersaddle pickup which sounds near dead & dry. New with mine, I’m starting with the most famous of recording mics, Neumann U87. The Aura comes with countless brands & styles of studio mics, I just love the Neumann sound. I highly recommend for a few hundred $$$ you can near perfectly model live straight out of your acoustic electric hyper real acoustic sounds minus any unwanted background noises squeals or movement hindrances. Comparing price to studio mics the Aura Spectrum costs pennies on the dollar.

Well I was 30 years trucking then, I did have a dvd of JT Move Over. Now last few years retired playing folk & gospel to older seniors in nursing homes want best sound I can afford. Running my fairly new acoustics through my just received Aura Spectrum. I hadn’t heard of them till a few months ago. Sorry late to the party. Best amplified tone I’ve heard.

I recall Fishman's Joe Barbieri mentioning creating custom Aura sound images for one of James Taylor's guitars.
These days we have ToneDexter, an affordable processor that's available for folks who want to make custom WaveMaps for their pickup-equipped guitars. Now we just need an affordable substitute for Olson guitars . |
