Here is a nice set of Tasmanian blackwood on my Tui model guitar made by Laurie Williams. I had a great trip down to a specialty timber dealer in Tasmania in 2014 to select this wood.

Nothing exotic here -- some nice straight grain EIR on my OM, some nice mahgoany on my 00, etc., but no ribbons or waterfalls or sapwood (really like the looks of that first post, btw) or swirls or eyes of bird or . . . well, there's nothing to see here. I do like the looks of some of these posts.

Incredible stuff there Bob! I'm a rank amateur by comparison.

Steve it’s African Blackwood with koa/maple inlays of my family crest at the top. Followed by kanji characters which translate to:

This was a colloboration of my design brought to life by Jimmi Wingert. Paul Woolson crafted the guitar.

Do you an to see the front? Cherry blossoms in the spring

It's probably ok to show the front of one guitar in this thread.

I love seeing all of these beautiful guitar backs here. I'll add one more; a Pono D-30 Rosewood B/S Sitka top

Okay here goes,
The fretboard inlays are primarily wood, abalone, ceramic pieces. I wanted the cherry blossoms in bloom as it is a site to behold. Around the lower frets my name in kanji. Again Jimmi Wingert was the artist who took my vision to life.

The top is a double Adi that was done in a full Black burst . Notice the fan Fret bridge. Bevels in koa and a sound port, deep body SJ.

I'm with you but sometimes that's all it takes. There are some GORGEOUS guitar backs (and photography) here.

Alan, the front of that guitar is as crazy as the back. Thanks for sharing.
