Default Webber Guitars?

I came across Webber guitars on this forum and I liked what I saw and messaged David Weber to learn more. Unfortunately, I didn't hear back so I followed up and still nothing.

Anyone play a Webber and have any recos for a fingerpicker? I was leaning towards doing a round body in the future with a cedar top and rosewood body but it's hard to find many clips of his guitars. Any insight into sound and quality?

David is retired fully now I believe - so you may not hear back from him -- he's either skiing or hiking!

I've owned a couple dozen of his guitars.....they are typically pretty fundamental as opposed to loaded with overtones - they record pretty well most of the time.

The Roundbody is by far his most popular - it's the same basic cavity size as an OM with slightly different dimensions. My favorite was a Claro Walnut and Englemann Roundbody he built for me. Wish I'd never let it go....

I have a 2012 Webber Dred, nice guitar. Even this is more geared to softer (fingerstyle) playing styles then outright bluegrass/hard strumming so a Webber may be what you are looking for. Their value-to-price ratio is definitely on the high side as his base price was very reasonable. His quality is good from what I have experienced and read.

Check the Clasified section, there seems to be one up for sale fairly regularly. He made a lot of guitars, so there is a large base of available guitars for re-sale. He seemed to like Cedar tops so chances are you can find something you will like. At this price point, you really can't go wrong with a Webber IMO.

David did cedar and maple exceptionally well - beautiful tone and incredible value (very good build quality at a modest price). Love mine - lifetime keeper.

As mentioned, David has retired. Bluedog guitars in North Vancouver still has a selection of new Webber guitars. Guitars Plus in Victoria may have some as well. Great guitars for a great price.
