Thanks for letting us know, Wade. I too will do a string change this weekend, and give a nod skyward out of respect. RIP.

There'll be a bit of a duller sound in the acoustic guitar world without John. Thanks for the news Wade, and sorry to hear of this.

Verybsorry to hear about this loss. Never got to know John on a personal level, but recently tried his strings on all three of my guitars. After many, many different strings, I've settled on his custom light/med ... great strings .. they are my string of choice.

Very sad news. Yesterday I sat in a lovely spot, in the sun, played for a bit, put on a new set of JP strings and played some more...then went downstairs and recorded, pleased as usual with the sound of those strings. The new strings made a real difference in my level of pleasure in playing yesterday.
I didn't know until today that he had passed, but enjoying his handiwork yesterday now seems like a kind of unconscious homage.

He made good stuff for guitar players. And thereby touched us all.

I never got a chance to try JP strings... But I heard so much good things about it. I read so much about John Pearse in the 80's magazines where there's an article about him & his collection of Martin guitars & other that interviewed by Adrian Legg which I have very deep impression with.
May John rest in peace...

I vaguely remember watching his BBC television shows as a child and thinking "I'd like to try that".
What's odd is that I just happened to end up on his web site about a week ago and I thought his "soapbox" article was very articulate and moving. We are poorer for this man's passing. My thoughts are with his family and friends. |
