Need help dating a Yamaha G-50 A
I'm new to guitars so forgive my ignorance. So I just grabbed a pretty nice Yamaha G-50 A of of craigslist. It came with a hardcase, capo, and an old school shoulder strap. It needs strings. I got it all for $40. I think that's a good deal. Not sure,,,lol.
So any way. I'm trying to date this thing. The research I did says that model was made from 69-72. But I couldn't find my serial number anywhere in any of the charts. So I just did an online chat with Yamaha and they said 62-75. But couldn't do any better than that. It's made in Taiwan. Serial number is : T 0009881 You guys got any ideas. $40 seems like a fantastic price, and with the case too! If there aren't any obvious structural problems then you just made a huge acquisition, well done. I used to know where the Yamaha guitar database was located on their service page, that would pull up the year for things I was looking at, but none were in the near-original Yamaha nylon line like this one is, so maybe that database doesn't go that far back? Good luck in your search for info!
