Exclamation Good cheap recording software? Audacity isn't working properly.

I am wondering if someone can share a good working software that I can purchase.
Audacity (v2.0.6 ) would be great, but for some reason it sometimes will not record. I'm not sure why it isn't working, but it isn't. I've uninstalled it and then reinstalled, and it will work ONCE, but not a second time. I'm not sure if I am doing something wrong, but like I said, it isn't working so I'm wondering if there is just a good (very) low price software out there somewhere.
I use a Blue Yeti microphone and all I need it 3 or 4 tracks. One for acoustic rhythm, one for solo, and one for vocal (my wife sings), and I am only needing this for personal use only. Nothing major.

Thanks for any help, input or direction!

Reaper seems to be very popular and the least expensive of the more full featured DAWs

Reaper. Free to try, 60 dollars to buy. Everything works on the free version, but it'll just nag you to buy it whenever you start it up.

Guys I really appreciate it. I've never heard of Reaper, but I have downloaded both is and the manual. I will be installing it here in a little bit, but I feel confident this is what I am looking for.
Thanks again!

Glad to see you got the manual, too - on the homerecording forums I see so many people who just use youtubes and ask questions on things that are well-explained in the manual. It's pretty extensive, so concentrate on the sections you need to start out with.

I am the most computer challenged musician out there.......I have the official version ($60) of Reaper.

I haven't even scratched the surface yet and probably never will. It is easy and fun to use. I can actually record songs and they sound pretty good.

Just curious, what is your operating system? I use Audacity with Win XP, Win7 and Linux and I've never had that happen. When you click on the record button, what happens Does it start scrolling and look like it's recording?
