I'm jealous of your pickup config...I miss the neck single coil...other than that I can't put my guitar down!!

I played tons of electrics - all the big names and then found that the SB was what I wanted.
Here is my custom spalted maple.

Just wondering... do the Taylor SBs have coil switching like the T3 does? Pull up on the volume knob and it's in single coil mode. The T3 also has a unique pull up on the tone control that changes the response.

Some pickup combinations for the solid-body Taylors provide the coil splitting option.

Position 1: Full neck pickup Position 2: Inside coils of the neck and bridge pickups in parallel (skinny, funky neck tone) Position 3: Full neck pickup with the inside coil of the bridge pickup (adds fatness and drives the amp a little harder for extra crunch) Position 4: Inside coil of each pickup in series (creating the effect of a super-wide humbucker and producing a truly unique tone) Position 5: Full bridge pickup

"Choose from mini-or full-size HD and HG humbuckers, our noiseless single coils, and hybrid humbucker/single coil options."Though I checked before posting that coil spitting was available on Taylors solid-body guitars, I didn't read carefully enough and hastily interpreted the highlighted text to mean coil splitting when it meant a mix of single coil and dual coil pickups. Sorry for the misinformation. http://www.taylorguitars.com/guitars...dedPickguards/ |

Was going to order an extra "loaded pick guard" with 2 humbucker style pick-ups. Was all set on the HG's, but in the store section saw the Vintage alnico's. There was no demo video for them. Anyone playing these? What's the tonal difference as compared to the HG and HD pick-ups? Looking for a more dirtier set- up for classic rock ( AC/DC, Zep, etc..). I am really liking my new SB...

I can clearly see now why folks buy Taylor electrics! I've always been a Fender and Gibson guy - those are the guitars I grew up with and love the tone, feel and looks of. And I own some great ones: '54 Tele, '63 Strat and a more recent ES-335 with Tom Holmes humbuckers. Never been a PRS guy. I do like some Hamers. But some of these Taylors you folks have been posting are among the most beautiful electrics I've ever seen. Just gorgeous!

Great deal on a Taylor solid body? Worth buying?
My local guitar shop has two Taylor solid body classics for $399 a piece. They both play great. I know Taylor has great service but would these be a good long term purchase?
I would appreciate any suggestions. (I'm in the U.S.) |

Who buys Taylor Electric solid body guitars???
Wow. This thread began and died in 2011. I am amazed someone found it four years later...

Since they still build the T3 and the T5, I'd believe they would still service the SB's.

They are great guitars!!. I'd snap one up for that price. It probably won't appreciate but it'd be a good guitar.
