Did you find out later that the lady worked for the store, and that was her job, and the kid was a little person? I am kidding. It's a wonderful feeling when a stranger compliments your playing, for sure. It can make your whole day. Also, beautiful guitar, I have ben thinking for a while about one of those.

I don't have one, need to try that style of guitar. Congrats! Cool story. Reminds me of the little old lady who conned Barney Fife into buying a crappy car. Except your story is not a con! I have had that same experience in a guitar store and I'm no great guitar player but good enough to fool someone who doesn't play!

Congrats, sounds like there will be no buyer's remorse here!

You do have a point though ... who would pick a guitar store to read stories aloud?

Been researching smaller body guitars myself, despite really not needing one or even knowing where I'd put it... I've been very surprised about the tonal differences between this 000-18 and the OM version, though. You'd expect the longer scale to sound brighter and the shorter one deeper/mellower. All demos I've listened to suggest the opposite so I guess that must have something to do with the bracing pattern.

In defense of the older lady, she was only whispering the words in the book to her granddaughter while her daughter was in another room getting piano lessons. The look in her misty eyes and the sincerity in her voice was enough for me. ♥

Maybe I would have bought the 000-18 that day anyway...but I'm still thankful for that little emotion nudge. This is an extraordinary guitar...and I have a heartfelt little memory to attach to the experience.
