Default 1998 Collings D2H

I purchased this Collings D2H (serial number 4047) brand new in 1998. It is still the most amazing sounding steel string guitar I have ever heard or owned. I played it for 15 years while I had a band. It has never been damaged and aside from a few minor scratches, is in excellent condition. I now only play classical so this guitar has been sitting in its case for way too long. It is too amazing instrument to live in a case. It must be played!

Basic specs are Sitka spruce top, E Indian rosewood back and sides, Honduran mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard, and bone nut and saddle. More detailed specs available upon request. Original hard shell case, guitar strap and new strings included.

These guitars sell for well over $6000 new. I'm asking $5150.

If you're interested, please email me off thread at [email protected] and I can send you more pix and/or more detailed specs if you like.

This is a spectacular guitar. If you're in LA we can meet up so you can try it out in person.

This was a great, now classic, era for Collings.

I have a ‘99 D3, bought new. Everyone who plays it wants it.

Iirc, this was before Collings changed their nitro finish process to include more modern techniques. This guitar should have an “old school” thin nitro finish, which might exhibit the slight pore sinking that gives the vintage guitars their character and contributes to their tone.

I have no personal financial interest in this guitar, nor do I know the seller, but I do wish him GLWS!

Thanks @Mark L. It is a truly amazing guitar. It does have a vintage look after 20+ years, and the sound is incredible. If I were not just a classical player nowadays I'd keep it.

Take care!

Aside from a few nicks in the finish, this guitar is in excellent condition. It plays and sounds like a dream!

My only reason for selling this amazing Collings is so I can purchase a high quality classical guitar. If any of you are open to a trade for a concert classical in similar quality / price range, I would be open to that. But it would have to be local. I'm in Los Angeles.
