Default Steve Denvir custom build

Steve Denvir is a relatively new builder from Canada who is beginning my first custom build. He has studied voicing with Ervin Somogyi, French polishing with Joshia de Jonge and Fretting and setup with Dave Collins at Ann Arbor Guitars.

It's going to be a Western Cedar Top with mahogany back and sides. Going to be a 13-fret short scale OM size with a sound port.

Below is the piece of flamed mahogany he will use.

And he just finished the rims.

Some progress reports from Steve:

Back braced and in place with rims. Making sure the braces are slotted properly.

Shot-filled bags to maintain 25’ radius. The whole assembly is sitting in the radius dish. The weights are probably overkill, but it makes me feel better :-)

Acrylic template doing double duty to distribute clamping pressure evenly.

The whole mess, clamped down.

Glue-up went great, your sound port is cut, and I’m just starting to brace the top.

Steve is thinking of going with these kind of fret markers. I love it.

I think you will find Steve a great guy to work with. Let us know how you like it once you receive it.

I've had several conversations with Steve before and now during the build and he is a real gentleman. So easy to work with.

Steve said the sanding is done and it's ready to start finishing. He said it's the last I see of the guitar until it's on my doorstep!

Looking forward to seeing it also. And hearing how it sounds. I just contacted Steve last night. Waiting to hear back from him!
