Default National steel O model

Hi ,I don't know why I never asked this before.Maybe someone here would have an idea. Back in the early 1970's I walked into a junk store and found an old National steel guitar ,bought for $125. Didn't need anything done to it ;still doesn't and I play it almost everyday. I would love to know the history of it but thats impossible. What I 'd like to know is what year it was built . Not that anybody here would know but serial numbers are S5188.[not a lap steel] . I did write to National ,but not sure if they care or will get back to me. Any clues ? Thanks !

Hi, according to Mark Makin's encyclopedia of all things resophonic, your guitar dates to sometime in the first half of 1934.

And if you want to make a quick $75, I'll give you $200 for it!

Early 1934 as said previously. Is is still at 12 fretter? Are the F holes flat or rolled in? Would love to see a pic!

If you go on the Michael Messer forum, Michael or Mark Makin might give you more information.
