Default SULLIVAN BAY-original

Hi folks!
Well, here's an instrumental....and shout-out to builder Tom Doerr for creating such an amazing instrument! Wishing you ,Tom, and all the luthiers a good show this weekend!
The origins of the title for this piece are in the Soundcloud write-up. Played on my Doerr '14 Legacy: Lucky Strike Redwood/ Cocobolo, CGCGCD tuning capo#3.
From the CD Autumn's Soul.

Hope you enjoy!

Wow Fred!

That sounds SO GOOD! And it really fits your wife's experience of the penguin that came to say HELLO in Sullivan Bay in the Galapagos Islands. What a great story to go with this lovely piece of music.

It does take a person away...

- Glenn

Thanks so much, Glenn! This piece took maybe 6 months to come into place and once I recorded it I re-worked elements of the first section, as I didn't think it was "musical enough" and started over with changes in that section!

Lots of different (for me) picking patterns which were off shoots of some of my usual ones in order to get what the melody "required". Thought to myself, "oh boy, I've really gotten into it now"!
So glad you enjoyed this and thanks for the compliments! The story behind it is totally true! That little penguin was a life changer that day and totally blew my wife's mind when it happened so naturally and instantly.
Warmest regards, Glenn,
Fred

I have a confession. When I log on to the AGF, I often come to Show and Tell for a little background music to set the stage and provide just the right atmosphere for my time here. Tonight, "Sullivan Bay" has played in a continuous loop - it's that good! It certainly made my poking around on the AGF more enjoyable. Well done, indeed, the song, the playing, and the instrument!

Cotten, my thanks to you for making my day with such kind words of appreciation! With your own music background, you no doubt know what this kind of compliment means.....very fulfilling for this old guy!
So glad my instrumental was able to visit with you last night on AGF!
Regards,
Fred

LOL! Thank you, Ray!! So glad you enjoyed! Just listening to your own latest creation and really liked it.
My set up is simple, Two Shure condensers, into a mic pre-amp, into a Zoom H4N. I do treat my space with 3 broad band absorbers surrounding me and record in our dining room (older house with wood floors/high-ish ceilings). The track is pro mixed and mastered and taken from the CD. Kudos to Tom Doerr for an awesome guitar!
All the best,
Fred
