Default A Waltz for November

Hi folks......recorded this instrumental several years ago and thought I'd re-mix and move it forward on the list this afternoon. Back then, I had it in my head that I wanted to do a waltz or something....."yeah, on the 12 string"........I thought. So, being November.......there's a name for it.....that's what I'll call it! Played on my '67 Martin D12-20. Hope you enjoy.

I liked both the songs you posted Islandguitar. You wrote them both? If so, it is my opinion that they have better direction than many original songs people post. Like you knew where you wanted to go. Any thankfully unlike many other originals that get posted and meander on and on and on and seemingly some people think length equals quality, you knew where and when to stop. Very nice.

Nailpicker......thank you for that comment and feedback! Yes, most everything I do seem to be originals......! I especially appreciate the compliment as you've certainly picked up on my intent with these instrumentals.....although sometimes it takes a while to "know where I want to go!" LOL......I think I heard this from a TE quote some time back that basically said, "know what you want to say and then get out"! (or something quite similar). That really hit home and has partly guided me with my stuff over the years. So pleased you enjoyed....thank you....more to come!

Hi Fred,

Very nice! I really like that!

What a great sounding 12-string and the piece is just right for November! Some little crystalline sounds in there to represent the coming of cold weather -- a little frost and ice.

Very well done. And like Nailpicker, I like the length of the song. It's right to the point!

Thanks so much, Glenn! I don't play enough on the 12 string......should do more, but every once in a while a stretch really hits me with new stuff on that guitar. I'd be hard pressed to rip that piece off today without practice....have gradually work up the fingers the Martin!
Very glad you enjoyed....hope the hip is doing well!

Enjoyed listening - I like the composition and the sound you get from your D12-20, that with your playing works so well on this piece.

Nice playing. It definately has this 'winter is coming' kind of mood to it..

I really like this composition, and you played and recorded it beautifully. Now this is a wonderful use of a 12 string - subtle and tasteful. I just purchased a 12 for the first time, and am trying to decide how best to use it. You've inspired me!

Larry, thank you so much! Glad to hear of your 12 string purchase and wishing you much success. Thanks for taking a listen! Here's another 12 string original to have a listen to if you'd like......in DADGAD which is really a fun way to work with a 12 string and breaks things up if standard tuning needs a change to keep things interesting.

Fred, I sure enjoy your music! Just lovely to listen to. Thank you for sharing this and for your encouragement with my new 12 string. It really sounds wonderful as a fingerstyle instrument. Whole new worlds to explore...
