Alverez 5205
I dug out an old guitar, an Alvarez 5205. I can’t find any info on it. I broke a tuning key. Is is worth tuning it up like new or just replacing? It’s actually in really good shape.

Can you clarify what you are asking? Are you asking about replacing the tuning key or the guitar?

Replacing the key if the guitar is worth keeping. If not getting another guitar. Have Ted played much in 30 years. I want to get back into it. Fingers aren’t as nimble.

They sell for 200.00 USD in “excellent condition” on reverb. New tuning machines would run you between 40-120 (give or take). You might also be able to roll the dice and replace just one tuner (try eBay, maybe?).

Are your tuners like these?
These 'economy' tuners look very similar. US$17.99 a set. Guitarheads ; http://www.guitarheads.net/products/tuners/eco3x3.html
