Default CA Setup...no truss rod

can someone explain how you set up a CA brand guitar? is there not a wide variance in preference for neck relief?

CA would give you a normal relief, mine was .007. You then adjust the saddle for string height. Carbon makes the necks so stable you really don't need adjustment. Even changing string gauge won't move the neck much if any. If you have to dial in a very specific relief buy a carbon with a trust rod. I am picky as anything about my setups and find truss rods in carbon rarely important to me. Downside is the add weight.

All in the saddle and nut. No truss rod necessary

^ this.
Based on my experience with my early Hawaiian-made WS-1000 (no truss rod) the neck doesn't move perceptibly when putting on mediums or when going from higher or considerably lower tunings. I've always believed that a truss rod would be redundant on such a rigid neck anyway. And adjusting neck relief with a truss rod is just the one minor step in the set-up process anyway, not something that could save the whole feel from a marginal set-up.

These guitars DO NOT move provided string tension is kept within the range the manufacturer specifies. For guys like me that gig outside mostly (on the beach too) this kind of stability really helps. Just one less thing to worry about. I've got a friend that literally gigs with a tuner clamped on the headstock of his wood axe.

I touch my CA up before I start and I might tweak it once during a gig. When I used my Rainsong, it was pretty much the same. Try that with a wood 12er.
