Default Guitar (Irish) Bouzouki. Looking for one ...

I had a Trinity College Irish Bouzouki for a good long while but I just could not warm up to the shape so I sold it. I do miss the sound a lot so I am now considering a "middle-of-the-road" guitar-shaped Bouzouki. By guitar-shaped I'm thinking 000 or OM (not a fan of archtops) and price-wise in the $2000 max range. Recommendations?

(PS I could always turn my Martin 12 string into one but the Jumbo size has become near unmanageable anymore. I would trade the Martin in for the right 'guit-zouk', though).

Goldtone, KR Strings, Northfield? (Some of these are upwards of $2K, though.)

I got my list from Elderly - click on Mandolin family at upper left to get choices of body sizes: https://www.elderly.com/collections/...ly-instruments

Gold Tone BZ-1000 is probably your best inexpensive bet.

I don't know what their North American distribution is like, but Antonio Carvalho/APC instruments from Portugal make a guitar shaped bouzouki. I quite liked a teardrop bouzouki made by them that I tried for a couple of tunes at a pub session.

I see in an ad on a mandolin forum that Papaw Odell, in Cleveland, TN, has a Gold Tone Bz-1000 Bouzouki for $899. NFI
