Back in Feb. 2017 I asked Emerald Guitar what the specs were on the X10..

Scale length - 25.5”

Nut width - 1 3/4”

Bridge Spacing - 2 1/4”

Overall length - 39”
Max body width - 14 1/2”
Max body depth - 4”
Max body length - 17 1/2”
Weight - 3.5lbs
Frets - 20 medium stainless steel frets

Specs from the Emerald Guitar web site in addition to the X10 specs I received through email from Emerald Guitar, here is a spec comparison
between the X7, X10 and X20.

I sure seems to me that the X10 would be a very popular model. The X20 is nice, but really feels a bit large and long to me, so much so that I doubt I will ever buy one. The X10 on the other hand is just the right size for my liking.

I hope that Sean puts more effort toward making X10s again.

It is likely that Emerald will build one for you if you wish, perhaps with an upcharge. It may be worth asking Sean at [email protected].

I think they can still manufacture the X10, they're just not in the standard inventory line up yet.
I'd like to see the new X10 with a sound hole like the X20 and a scale length of 24.75", halfway between the X7's 24" scale and the X20's 25.5" scale.

Yep... I think a lot of us would be interested in ponying up for such an X10.

While Emerald is sleeping, the Blackbird Savoy fills that niche.

And for me, the RainSong CH OM 1100NS (formerly known as the "Shorty") will soon happily fill that favorite niche of mine.

The X10-OSN is EvanB's. Love the headstock. A steel string version is likely possible, which is what could become standard at some point.

Tom... that X10 of EvanB's looks fantastic. I think the size is just right. Nice head stock, as well. It would be hard for me to resist a steel-string X10 like that, especially in red!

The lower bout dimensions of the X10 are perfect for nylon strings. I also agree that a shorter scale than the X20 would be nice, but 24.75" is a bit short for nylon. 640mm, or 25.2", is the ideal short scale for a full size nylon guitar, and a 12 fret bridge position would be nice too.

A matched pair of 640mm, 12 fret, nylon and steel string X10's would be amazing, extremely comfortable, and would be different enough from the X20 that it would create a demand of its own, even for people who already have an X20. Production model pricing, instead of custom, would be nice too.

Short scale (24.75), 12-fret, steel-string X10 version would pull me into the Emerald camp.

It can be yours.....at a price!

Even if one doesn't opt for various options, it's great that a CF builder at least offers one's heart's desire.

On my ordered Emerald nylon string Electric, based on the X7, I am opting for a short scale. Tom2 is right about optimal scale, but electric changes the equation a bit and playability is also a parameter.

I should also back up a bit: As far as I'm concerned, Alistair can do whatever he wants. He knows my preferences, but he also know that I trust his judgment and will respect what he creates.
