Traveling with guitar
So I'm taking my electric guitar with me to Florida next week so I will still be able to practice..it's not an expensive one but none the less I don't want anything to happen to it ..the car will be air conditioned(we will prob stop to eat for 45 min but that's it) and I will keep it in the air conditioned room. How should I pack it? Should I just put it in a soft case. Anything I need to know?? Never traveled this far with one so not sure about everything. Thanks

If all you have is a soft case, just be careful how you stow it. Hardshell is always preferred. Don't put it in the trunk of the car. Electric guitars are pretty sturdy, only problem you may have is tuning as you move from warm to a/c environment, and that will only be momentary.

Ya most elecs can take a weather beating and keep on ticking. Alot more wood in body...so not as sensitive to weather changes. BUT I would not leave in car (or trunk) in hot sun as there is no need to see how much it can take. At a minimum it might cause some finish issues if nitro.

It's just a longer version of your otherwise local trip. Just handle it like you always do. As above, don't put it in the trunk. If it's HOT where you stop, take it in with you. That's easy.

Wherever you decide to play, leave the guitar in the case for at least an hour before taking it out, so the guitar can acclimate slowly. I've seen a few guitars, out of the freezing cold and taken out right away in a warm room, start to finish crack...

I'd just keep it in the interior of the car, it'll be fine.
if you're only stopping for 45 minutes, should be ok, keep it out of direct sunlight.. a hard shell case would offer more insulation against the heat but, it is what it is... |

I'd just keep it in the interior of the car, during the travel time.
I take a guitar almost everywhere... it'll be fine. |
