Default Rainsong CO-WS1000NS vs Emerald X20 OS Artisan 12 fret

Would like to get myself another carbon guitar (have a Rainsong P12R) and have interest in subject two. As far as I know there are no dealers here in the northeast that stock these so I'm looking for impressions from those who are lucky enough to own or have played them. Love the spacey look of the Emerald, the offset sound hole looks right on it, but availability looks tough.
Anxious for input.
Thanks

Hello Tom,

You need to consider whether what your looking for is a standard configuration or would require customization/modifications to the guitar.

A RainSong CO-WS1000NS, . . . where the NS means the short scale (24.875 inches) neck having a 12th fret neck to body attachment, is within the range of standard RainSong configurations and should be possible to order with no up-charge. There may be RainSong dealers that have such a model in stock, waiting to be purchased.

An Emerald X20-OS, is standard with a 14th fret neck attachment and scale length of 25.5 inches.

If you wanted a 12th fret neck attachment and/or a short scale on the X20-OS, both are likely surcharges that per pricing on Emerald's web site, with each customization being an up-charge of 300 Euro or more, so the base price might be increased by 600 Euro or more.

Best regards,
Jim K

No better time to buy an Emerald, just played their new harp guitar, I think their quality is as good as anyone in the industry. With Emerald it a leap of faith MacNichael in Utah may have some.

Understand up charges for 12 fret from Emerald, with Rainsong short scale is available. Suspect/hope costs are similar when all in. I am a late bloomer to playing, and honestly, have no natural ability so find 12 fret a bit easier on me. I've been on again, off again playing due to some surgeries for a few years now and have been a better collector then player. Am really liking my
P12 and would like to add more of a full size carbon to collection.

Martin M30
Martin OM21S (for sale, I think)
Martin 00017SM
Lil Martin LXK2 (for sale)
Rainsong P12R
Voyage Air VAOM04 w/bone saddle and Gotoh tuners (for sale)

So, you can see I am already out of control

The X20-OS is really great in a short scale configuration.
One of the things we are very strong on is customisation so just let us know what scale length and neck specs you want and we can build it.

Glad to hear Alistair report that the X20-OS is "great in a short scale configuration", . . . since I have on order a X20-OS that is to have a 24.75 inch scale length!

Looking forward to it!

Jim
Did you order yours as a 12 fret to the body?
Curious as to what else you specked for yours, my current skill set has lots of room to grow.

Ordered as 14 frets to the body, 24.75 inch scale, and Opus model so acoustic only, no electronics.

I've got a 650mm scale (roughly 25 5/8"), 12 fret x20. It's a nylon string.

I requested the standard classical scale length, but a 12 fret to the body, and moved the bridge further south to accomodate.

Love it love it love it.

There are some pictures in the thread on the MacNichol site.

NGD post

Alistair took some professional pics as well, those are on page 2 of the same thread I linked to. Some comments from Alistair regarding the build on the same post as his pictures.
