I’m exactly the same. The foot ring is a must for me, and I thought the foot plate would be too. Thought I’d use it in warm weather if I wanted to play barefooted. But it turns out I like changing the position of my foot on the ring a lot, including rocking it front to back, and the foot plate keeps everything too stationary and set for my preference. So I took the plate off after a year or so after barely using it and not liking it when I did. Everything else about the Soundseat is just perfect for me though. I’ve had it 4-5 years I think. A great purchase.

Yeah, I remembered a guitarist I liked who played seated, Sonny Lallerstadt, and wondered why he set his seat low enough that his feet were flat on the floor. I tried it and figured out why: With your feet on the floor, if your hips and knees are parallel, the guitar doesn't try to go on walkabout. It is a lot more comfortable than hips above knees. I have the foot ring that I use when I want to elevate a foot and the foot plate that I use for classical position.

Hey, Bob, what color is that chair of yours? Do you recall?

I like it, but don't see that same color on the website. Although I suppose yours could have "weathered" over these 20 years.

I'm thinking about one....

I think it was called "wine red." the color of my seat doesn't appear to have faded any. You might ask Bretta if it can be had again.

Yes - it’s pretty good. It’s not a Herman Miller, but it’s also not a Staples or Walmart special. I’m pretty picky and am comfortable with it as an office chair. It’s firm and has support. No arms however.

My wife has one with casters and arms that she uses for her office chair and loves.

Default My New SoundSeat - A Review

I use mine as both a guitar chair and an office chair. I had originally had a fairly short gas cylinder on it but once the pandemic kicked in, I was working from home so gave Bretta a call and was able to order a higher one along with a foot ring. Works great and is as sturdy, comfortable and durable as the day I got it 10 years ago.
Best,
Jayne

I use mine both to play and as an office chair. As an office chair it is reasonable, better than the standard type office chair that I had, but not Herman Miller. As a guitar chair it is wonderful. I got the foot ring.
I have had it for about a year now, if it went away I would buy another one in a heartbeat.

PS to my OP: I raised the nose of the seat, following the instructions. It made a nice improvement for me. Again, this is a slightly cumbersome procedure - you need to have on hand, or purchase a couple of 1-1/4 x 1/4 inch bolts and add two washers to each, but very easy to do .

I just ordered a SoundSeat today. There is a similar color now called "Burgundy" which is the color I decided to go with. Can't wait.
