Thank you Bryan. I think one reason The Tree can be hard to work with is because its current price and rarity - many new luthiers don't have the opportunity to build with it hence no experience with this type of material. It seems luthiers such as Harvey Leach or Mike Baranik are fairly confident while working with The Tree, because they build plenty guitars with this wood. That said, Julian is indeed a very creative and talented caftsman, there's so much fun in watching his work. How's your #017 opening up, I can only imagine it's a stunning guitar!

Thank you man! It will surely be one of the top guitars for me but your Michuad(s) are looking great too! Yours is a few steps ahead of me with a close box, waiting is a bittersweet. Looking forward to your...oh wait, I mean Josh's new update!

Default More updates

Here's some new updates, Julian was doing some final detail voicing on the top and hopefully next update will be a close box, I can't wait!! Meanwhile, here's some more photos to enjoy!

While many people love amboya burl, I'm more attracted by Buckeye burl's amazing color pattern. Here's the final result of the 3D segemented rosette in buckeye burls, I can't be happier with the result - it's just so beautiful. I'm not sure if the photo shows it clear enough, but I particularly love the green outline around the buckeye segments, they are gorgeous up close.

Here's the top and the back together

Glad to know I'm not the only one loving the rosetteThanks Dennis.

The box is finally closed and we were discussing which size of purfling to use. We come to an agreement that the middle size will be perfect, that said, I also love the smallest size, maybe save it for another project. Next thing - endgraft, can't wait to see Julian's design.

Default It's been awhile!

Finally, the guitar is finished and sent to finisher for a beautiful full body french polish. It was an excited journey to share new ideas with Julian and see the man build this masterpiece.

Julian and I spent quite some time on having a new headstock design and we couldn't be happier to see the end result, therefore this new feature will become optional for future Gaffney guitars! As well as different size purfling lines.

Hope you enjoy!

Very beautiful guitar.

The stair steps in the binding are really classy touches.

Congrats!

Yes indeed, I'm super pumped and can't wait to see her back from finish! The cutaway and neck joint decorations are indeed very classy! Julian's first attempt on his guitars and I have to say that's not bad AT ALL!
