What is your "go to" electric?
Hey all,
I have been having a bit of a playing Dilemma lately and it got me thinking about go to instruments. It seems that for some reason unknown to myself, unless I play my Les Paul or my Explorer, but mostly my Les Paul, apparently I can't play the guitar. Not sure what is going on. My tele and Jackson are like totally different instruments and I can't play them for anything. Any thoughts on this would prove helpful. Anyway it got me thinking what is your go to guitar? The one or couple that when you pick them up you immediately feel like you just caught up with an old friend? As per my dilemma as you can guess the Les Paul and Explorer are mine. I'm curious to find out what yours are! Thanks for reading! Mike

Les Paul for anything serious, around the house I keep a Firebird on a stand at arms reach.

I'll try to be short with my story.
I also have electric guitars that most people play:
1. Les Paul 2. Strat 3. "Tele" 4. "335" My Les Paul Deluxe is my first electric guitar. I've recorded/played it dozens of times in various bands, and I loved it...until I got my ex-wife bought me a Fender (Mexican) Telecaster. Because of my divorce, I sold my Tele because I didn't want any memories of my wife. Regretted that move! I missed that Tele more than I missed my ex-wife!! Fortunately, a good friend was looking to unload a U.S. made Peavey Reactor. I bought it from him, and it has become my "go to" guitar. All the others sit in my closet...all are, very well, playable. But there's just something about a "Tele"...

Like my acoustics, I used to have several electrics that I would rotate my time on. As with other posters here, those were all traditional models (3 Stratocasters, a Telecaster, and a Les Paul).
Then last year I played a Reverend Bayonet and absolutely fell in love with it! It combined all my favorite features of my other guitars (comfortable to play and great playability, Gibson scale and neck profile, set neck, whammy bar, and outstanding pickups [Reverend propitiatory Railhammer Humbuckers]). It is now my one and only electric guitar. It is an EGAS killer of the first order!

Go-to? A Gibson ES-335 my lovely wife surprised me with. I'd been sniffing around it, amongst ten others, and loved this one. MORE.
When I get a studio call it usually goes, even if I'm not sure I'm going to use it. That's it on the right, photo-bombing the Tele. Bob

My Gibson ES-335, or my Tele depending on the mood. I just feel at home on either one.
If I don't play the Tele fairly often, it busts my chops for a few minutes. They can be very unforgiving of sloppy technique, but so responsive to the right touch. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
