Yaz was my father's favorite player. I watched him numerous times on tv when I was a kid, including his last game. He was one of my favorites too. Think about it ... the Red Sox had 3 left fielders that lasted for decades - Ted Williams, Carl Yastrzemski, and Jim Rice and all of them won MVPs.

Unfortunately but it used to be OJ Simpson. I lived for Sunday and the Bills. Sad. Gordie Howe never disappointed

Agree on both, and that OJ let those of us who were huge fans down in the biggest way. I started wanting to play ball because of him.

I grew up in Columbus, Ohio watching the greatest player in the history of college football, Archie Griffin, carry the rock for Ohio State. Woody Hayes said that Archie was the best football player he ever coached, and that he was an even better person than he was a football player. Everyone in the stadium knew he was getting the ball, and he still went for 100 yards almost every Saturday.

No real favorite (not a huge sports fan), but I did enjoy watching Bob Knepper pitch for the Astros in the 80's.
His slow curveball was poetry in motion. |

I have not watched a sporting event since 1992, and generally do not like sports, but I did love to watch John McEnroe play tennis.

Favorite.....is quite different than best....so I sort of like Charlie Ward, the FSU quarterback who won the Heisman and then decided to play pro basketball. Sort of the unsung hero type....
As a kid, now referred to as a young person, Daryle LaMonica, QB, and George Blanda (old guy and former QB, who got it done as a kicker) of the Oakland Raiders (and I grew up on the east coast). Played touch, flag, and tackle as a kid, and as the QB, I was Lamonica. Oh, now I know why my body aches! yea, I remember of the Heidi game...and yes, we had Jet's Season Tickets...$12 each per game!
