Bridge requires four players of pretty equal interest and ability. If you've got one person who doesn't care and doesn't know what he's doing, it all falls apart. Similarly, if you've got one person who imagines himself a Grand Master, it all falls apart.
In my country, we never play bridge. We play euchre. Euchre tolerates players with different levels of interest and ability. It's more egalitarian. Also, you can also drink more without it affecting play. |

Spades all the way. I have had the same partner for about 20 years even though we rarely play anymore. Anyone want to play? Dollar a point ? Lol. We can literally read each other's minds. We have played thousands of games together. Having a Spades partner for that long really elevates the level of play.
Euchre is fun but is less intellectually stimulating. Kind of a watered down version of a lot of classic card games. Mike |

I'm going to try online non-wagering card game sites. Doubtful there will be much but you never know.

I've played on-line and computer bridge. It's not the same, but it's still fun.

My mother in law was very competitive. Loved duplicate bridge and saught out the better players at her club. Get her away from the game and she was a sweet little old lady. For those of us that never played, you try to decipher the bridge section of your daily paper.... What the heck does that mean? Jibberish.

Title is click bait.
Spades is much more accessible, and therefore easier to find players who can enjoy each other and the game. |

I played all sorts in my youth 500, Euchre, Spades and so forth. We used to play 500 with 3 decks of cards because we had so many players at the table, Now that was fun! When I retired to South Australia, wife and I had Bridge lessons and it was quite enjoyable, however, her health precludes playing any more. My two sisters travel all over Australia playing Bridge and I have played with one of them on occasion, but I have forgotten more than a little of the game now. When I can finally get back into it, I'll need lessons again. It is a good game, and, certainly, one I enjoy. I also enjoy Chess, too, though I haven't played that in a long time either.
