Default Pay for the Shipping!

I would urge anyone that orders from G7th to pay for shipping rather than doing the free shipping. It's been over a week since I ordered my Heritage and looking at the tracking info it looks like it hasn't left jolly ol' England yet. Either that or there is bad communication between Royal Mail and USPS. Not G7th's fault so I'm not bashing them, they did mail it.

It's US Customs and Royal Mail exchange issues. The postal process is slower than the private shipping companies. The last two capos from G7th I ordered were stuck in customs 2 weeks. I agree that paying for FedEx, or similar, is worth it.

I've received three different capos from G7th. I always take free shipping.

I've gotten all three in remarkably short time.

Same here. Ordered an engraved Heritage and it arrived promptly in California with free shipping. If I remember correctly it was around 2 weeks or less.

T Tex, to be fair to G7th, the website estimates 10 to 14 working days; Sats and Suns are not working days. So, you could be looking at 14 to 18 calendar days. "More than a week" is approximately 8 to 9 calendar days or 6 to 7 working days.

You have got another 5 calendar days or more to wait...Next Wednesday, perhaps?

Just to be clear, I'm not putting this on G7th at all, not their fault. But I think it was like $12 for expedited shipping, which I wish I would have paid. If I had seen a thread like this before I ordered I would have. Just a heads up to anyone that buys one going forward

Yes, I am aware of that. I worded it clumsily. My bad.

Hi Tybor,

So it hasn't left the UK, but do you know when it left G7th?

Shipping aside, isn't the Heritage just a copy of the Elliott that has been around for a couple of decades? Can I ask why you opted for it over the original? I've had my Elliott for over 15 years and could not be happier with it.

Just to shed some light on this: When shipping with tracking from the UK to the USA, the item does not get its USA scan until after it has cleared US customs - same goes for Canada. This means that, if a package is held up in customs, looking up the tracking number on the UK (usually Royal Mail) website will say that it's left the UK and is on its way, but on the US site (usually USPS) it will say it is still in the UK and has not been received into the country yet.

Unfortunately there is absolutely no additional tracking information to be had by either the UK or US postal services until it has cleared customs - the package will appear to be in limbo.

Most packages go through quickly - the majority of my orders are delivered to the USA and Canada within 7 days; almost all within 14 days. But I recently had one package held in customs for 19 days with no tracking updates before being released... it's rare, but it happens, and unfortunately there's nothing the shipper or either the UK or US postal services can do about it.

I know the G7th guys well and, like me at Wolfram, we'll always make sure your orders get to you safely - just sometimes we have to ask for your patience because there's no hurrying U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Cheers,
David

Hey Ted, mostly because of the A.R.T. that Nick has developed. Seems pretty ingenious. I think I'm just being impatient because I'm so excited to try it out

You should have mentioned you had an emergency key change pending.
