Default Ellis Stompbox - amp?

Hi:

I'm reviewing various stomp boxes out there to add some "percussion" to my acoustic guitar playing. In spite of the great reviews for the Porchboard, I'm leaning towards the Ellis for $$ reasons.

Here's my question: I only own 2 amps:
Ultrasound DS4 and a Fender Blues Jr.

Would I be able to get any kind of a bassier, deeper sound from this stompbox if I don't have a bass amp?

Thanks!

Default Can't help with amp question

But I've got both the porchboard and the Ellis and the porchboard wins hands down. You get a tapping sound from the ellis and a thump from the porchboard. But that's through a Bose L1 and so doesn't answer your question sorry.

So how would the porchboard sound through an acoustic amp?
I do know there are some switching options on the porchboard, depending on the type of amp... at least I think that's what I read.

You can make your own stompbox for about $25. All you need is a piezo pickup, a 1/4" jack, and a resonant box (a cigar box is common). There are a lot of videos on YouTube where guys have built their own stompboxes. And that's what I did. Bought a pickup on ebay for about $18 and went from there.

As for the amp, a bass amp is generally recommended, if only for the added low frequency boost. However, if you don't want to go that route yet, the acoustic amp would probably be the better choice over the Blues Jr. IMO

Ebay listings for transducer/piezo pickups:

the one I bought (the price has gone up):

Just some ideas.

Hey thanks Kyle!
I may just do this! Yours looks a bit simpler.
I appreciate the ebay link too.
