Default OM's: Alvarez Yairi FYM95 vs Eastman 412

Looking to get an excellent imported OM (imported because of cost). While I've played the Eastman 412 and thought it was nice, I was wondering how the Alvarez is? Anyone played one?

Tough choice. Small-factory Japanese vs small-factory Chinese.

They are both very well made. The Yairi has a slimmer neck profile, and some of them have 3-piece backs a la the OM-35. The Eastman is more lightly built and has a more open voice.

I'd think you'd be happy with either.

I really like the Eastman I have. It was a good deal made even better as it was a "close-out". The woods, workmanship, and playability are all top notch. What woods are currently on the 412? Mine has Eng. Spruce over figured Mahogany.

TP, I didn't know AC412's ever had mahogany back & sides. The Eastman site says it is rosewood, and that's what I had thought. The AC312 has mahogany.
