Reverb can lead the player to not hear their true sound be it good or horrible. Some players use so much reverb that their guitars sound like they are ready for take off.

A wise man from Circle Pines once told me that there will always be some people who think I should do this and other people who think I should do that. And if I listen to what people think, I will never know what to do.

I think that was a good piece of advice.

The recordings are very close to the tone that I aim for "in my head". I realize that it may not be everyone's cup of tea -- and I'm okay with that.

Thank you for listening.

Beautifully played, Mau! Wow.

And I'm with you on the reverb. I thought it brought an energy and life to the tone that I really like.

It does sound nice. It would sound better without any reverb. Mau, it still sounds nice!

I appreciate your kind words, Rick, I really do.

While it would sound better to you (and possibly to others as well) with less reverb, it wouldn't to me. Turning off the reverb is quite easy and I do try it every now and then -- and I simply don't like it.

When I share a recording, I share what I hear in my head, to the best of my abilities. As I've indicated before, I do realize that not everyone will enjoy what I do -- but I'm not going to publish something that I dislike myself just in case somebody else has something to say about it or thinks I may have "destroyed" my guitar tone.

The beauty of music is that we each have our own voice on the instrument. The recording that I posted is what I have to share with the forum. Some may not like it -- but it is my recording, my preferences. If I listened to another player, I would always encourage them to do what they like -- not what I like.

Thank you for understanding.

Thank you, Marty.

The melody was vaguely familiar to me but upon Barry's request I started to really listen -- and now it has become one of my favourites as well.

Thanks so much, Steve.

When I was a kid, my first amp was a Roland DAC-10. For some reason, I could never get the tone that I wanted out of it.

And then I got a Marshall Valvestate 8080 combo -- with reverb... And my life changed forever!

With or without reverb, musicians should play what they like.
