Thanks jrmyrnsm,

I cut the sound hole out today and bound the inner edge of the hole with Bloodwood. I'll have pics tomorrow when I clean it up some.
I spent time today designing the top bracing and bridge. Things change a lot with a fan fret guitar.
Meanwhile the heel bock is made and in;

I've never seen a set of ABW that large with zero sapwood. I stopped being able to focus on anything else after that photo. It is just remarkable. Just...wow!

I was fortunate to come across this Blackwood set a number of years ago. I've been saving it for a special build. The African Blackwood trees are not very large to begin with so big sets don't come by often. What really pushed me to use this set though is the sound. I can't think of a better wood to use for a baritone guitar's back and sides. They say the back and side wood is just a spice for the sound of a guitar. Just a spice. Yes it's the design, the build quality, the top wood but if you are going to put together an exceptional meal there is no such thing as "just a spice". Ask Bobby Flay!

What a cool Rosette, I love the look of bloodwood. And how nice of you to include a style matching feedback busting soundhole plug.

Thanks emmsone! In regards to the sound hole plug, in this competitive market it's really in the extras if you want to keep a leg up.

Thanks J.R.,

I'm sticking with a Bacchus theme being a new model and all!

Default Last of the braces glued

Today I glued the final round of braces on the top. Next week I'll work on the top to give Bacchus his voice!

Thanks for viewing!

Default Back glued on

I got the back glued on to Bacchus. It's all clamped up now and I'll wait until tomorrow to pull the clamps. I'm happy with how it all went. A 4 foot radius one way and a 15 foot radius the other and it laid right in there!

You can tell by the number of clamps that I was ready for warfare. The reason I have so many clamps, though, is I clamped it top up so I could see inside to be sure everything was aligned and tight.

More to come!

Default The Back is On

Here are a couple pictures of the body with the back on;

It is holding the shape as planned and the tap tone is right where I want it. It was nice to have the initial shape to confirm how it fits when held and confirm a benefit of all the additional work I've been doing on this guitar!

Boy, that does have a unique shape doesn't it? Have you held it yet to see if it is meeting your ergonomic goals yet?
