Default John Denver, Inside Fame on CMT

How great it was.

I just finished watching John Denver, Inside Fame on CMT (Country Music Television). Why is it that someone has to die to really be appreciated?

The show did a very good job of showing the celebration, trials, and tribulations of truly a Great American Singer, Songwriter.

It is also great to see people like Vince Gill (probably one of Nashville's greatest musicians) have such wonderful things to say about a man who used his music, to make a difference.

Enough about the sappy stuff.

I hope the airing of this continues to show others the greatness of simple lyrics and simple tunes. Music does not always have to be such "in your face", like allot of today's "acts".

Thanks CMT, who would have ever thought Country Music would pay a tribute to JD. Wouldn't it be great if they would have a humanitarian award in his honor?

I missed it. Does anyone know if and/or when it will show again?

Saw it but could not get on line to tell you. Good presentation. Did I see a Taylor or two?

Cool

It was a good program. Taylors were present in the clips from the Wildlife Concert. Also spotted his K22 in a photo. I remember seeing Vince Gill on the Grand Ole Opry right after John died. I believe he had gotten the opportunity to know John through golf. Vince said that John's music was very important as it helped to build a bridge between himself and his father, who he wasn't getting along with too well at the time. John had a lot more influence on people than I think he ever realized. I for one play his songs all the time. I remember him saying that his songs were his gift to the listener who then would take it inside themselves, and it would become apart of that person. That person would then have that chance to give the song away to someone else or keep it. JD gave me an awesome gift in his music.

MAKE it a GREAT day!!!

I thought it was a good show and it reminded me what a great songwriter he was. It also reminded of the horrible treatment he received from the "Nashville Nazis" at the time of his greatest acclaim. It still surprises me that a record company just dumped him, but he was rebounding at the time of his accident.

It was good to be reminded of his contributions.

Thanks to all again for the heads up. I was able to set the vcr yesterday.

It was a nice program. Learned several things I did not know before. Would have missed the show, had you not mentioned it here.
