Default 2014 Dale Fairbanks F-35 Roy Smeck Radio Grande

Up for sale, an F-35 Roy Smeck 12-fret dreadnought made by Dale Fairbanks in Connecticut.

Asking $4000. No trade offers please.

This is Dale's take on the Radio Grande version of the Gibson Roy Smeck style guitar, with neck binding and the more ornate Nick Lucas-style inlays on the fretboard. If you're not familiar with this model, it is similar to a 30's Gibson dreadnought but with a neck joint at the 12th fret, the soundhole closer to the center of the top, and a deeper body overall.

The specs are as follows:
Top and bracing are spruce. Back, sides, and neck are mahogany
Scale length: 24-3/4"
Body width: 16-1/4"
Depth at the neck block is 4-1/8" and at the tail 4-5/8"
Nut width: 1-3/4"
Saddle spacing: 2-3/8"

The neck is a round profile, medium to thin. I believe it's Dale's standard neck profile.

The finish is sunburst, and very thin. Dale's finishes are generally amazing and this one is no exception. I tried to capture it in a few different lighting situations; in the pictures the red is slightly more prominent than in real life.
There is another view of this specific guitar on Dale's website under "Roy Smeck Radio Grande" here: http://fairbanksguitars.com/guitars.html

Condition-wise, the only issue are a few superficial pick marks above the soundhole, shown in the pictures - these could probably be buffed out. Otherwise near mint. No cracks or structural issues. Action and playability are perfect.

Comes with the original hard shell case, as shown.

The tone is excellent - really nice bass with a somewhat scooped midrange and clear note definition. Sounds particularly great with John Fahey-style open tuning fingerpicking. Overall a wonderful instrument that I'm sad to have to sell.

Just to answer a few questions - the guitar is located in Brooklyn, NY.

I ordered it new from Dale in 2014 and am the only owner.

Feel free to get in touch with other questions!
