Can I get a sunburst finish on an existing guitar?
I have a dreadnought with niceflame maple back and sides with a plain spruce top. Can anyone advise if, and possibly who, might be able to apply a sunburst finish onto the top of this guitar ?
Ps I am in central southern UK. Many thanks. |

If its an inexpensive guitar, the job will cost more than the guitar. If its an expensive guitar, it will add a lot of cost you will never get back. It would be far less costly to find a guitar in sunburst and trade.

Luthier Jim Fleeting up in Blackpool has done some fantastic refinish work for me - you could contact him to see what he can do.
Cheers, David

To do it right the neck, bridge, and pick guard have to come off. Then the top finish would be removed, then refinished. After that, the neck, bridge, and pick guard would be reset. In the US that would be $1,500 minimum depending on who does the work.
